Seven Kingdoms
The imperial family returns home. He goes about his business taking care of his kingdoms but he finds that his thoughts return back to Valhalla and a certain person. He has wonderful memories but also conflicting feelings about the courtship, especially the fact that he may harm Marielena by separating her from her close family. He is please that all of the parents get along- Galina and Robert liked him well enough and of course they got on with his mother, who knew them from the past. How would she fair having to live out in his kingdom, having to adopt his people as her own? In the past, she returned home when her deeds were done. She demurred when he tried to assuage her by telling her of the sorts of duties she could undertake as the Empress. She did not merely have to produce heirs and look pretty. He really did see her as an asset to his cabinet. An ambassador or advisor at least. He saw her as being as his mother was to his father.
The Emperor took to his bed in the mid of the day and asked for any matters to be delivered to his chambers but that he would not attend the court. He climbed into bed and put the covers over his head. He reminisced. He recalled the last time he took to his room. It has snowed and he thought of her and how he wished she was there next to him. The wish was granted not too long ago as Valhalla was greated with a healthy snowfall.
His brother Chris visited him and teased him greatly for being lovesick. His sister Sora visited and brought words of comfort. She echoed Chris' observation that it seemed that the court was pushing Mirabelle to press her suit since he did enjoy her company. His mother visited last and as usual, her counsel was sound. She also said that she knew that he would never make a reckless decision that would jeopardize himself or his people.
Quesnel
Marielena was saddened by the departure of the Emperor but she glowed with her memories. She had been flirted with in the past but this is a different experience for her. As she went on with her work, she thought of him and began writing letters. Pasha teased her by saying that she has now turned into their sister Eugenie. He expected that now they would hear of nothing but her "Dorosha."

Valhalla (which also includes Quesnel)
Doron and Marielena court in earnest, making the most of his time there. They go riding and visit each other often. They discuss the prospect of “rowing the same boat.” Both acknowledge the difficulty of a union between them but also looks to sorting it out. Doron and his entourage set themselves up at one of the homes in the Old Republic district. They will stay for the fortnight and each will be returning to their respective homes-Bright Morning and her family to Belgica, Makana will return there after another few days and Doron (The Emperor) and his family will travel back to the Seven Kingdoms.
Doron notices Pasha‘s interest in his Cousine Makana and mentions to him that he may have an opportunity.Doron also visits Marielena‘s father Robert. Charles works to get the Emperor interested in Tatiana or Eugenie.
Tycho joins the entourage and renews his acquaintance with Tatiana. He will leave with Makana but will return to Kushkumasi.

Valhalla
Danyo Paul Dare, King from Faith and Freedom in West Virginia, attend a reception held in honor of his family, who was visiting from the Seven Kingdoms. Makana was invited by the Emperor as was Bright Morning and her family. Others attended as well such as Marielena and her family, who were the special guests of the Emperor. The atmosphere was somewhat tense.
The Emperor and Marielena grew even closer. She calls him "Dorosha" and he has yet to give her a name, since many of them have been taken already by her family. Charles Robertson and his family notice the closeness between them. His mother mentions to him that it should be his daughter by Galina that should be courted by the Emperor and not his cousin's daughter. Charles in the meantime is reacquainted with the Emperor's mother, with whom he has served on a ship in another time and place.
Pasha was recaptivated by Makana and Bright Morning. Makana also provided news of Helena Zyll, who is going to remain at home with her family at this time. She and Auguste are separated at this time. He is living with the settlement in the Borderlands. Makana provides news of Kanna, Laura's daughter by the King of Greenwalls. She and her siblings are in Tara.
The Denunciates and the Denunciate sympathizers make their plans to renew their work buoyed by the success of the lawyers, of which Marielena is one.

The Emperor goes
Quesnel
The Emperor decided to visit Marielena at Quesnel. Buoyed by his Cousine Bright Morning‘s support, he and a small entourage visit Vallhalla on their way to Belgica. He pays a call unannounced with his mother and Bright Morning and her family. They visit with Galina until Marielena returns with her sisters and Cousines. His mother, Ladocia, confesses to Galina, whom she hadn‘t seen in a great many years since the first “rebellion” that her son was in love with her daughter and that he wanted her to meet Marielena and the family since he valued her judgment. He likewise wanted Galina to meet them again and see if she would approve of him for her daughter. Galina is shocked to be sure. She likes The Emperor and his family and she knew that they corresponded. She did not know that things had developed in this manner, especially since every interaction was an official one. Ladocia confessed that The Emperor though mature in many ways he is relatively still new the rituals of courtship.
He and Marielena finally talk. She is surprised only because she never would have seen it coming. She assumed it was official business. They decide to court as much as they can court while he is there.

There has not been much happening in the time of the Denunciates.
The only real news is that Felia has been deeply depressed over the loss of her child. She blames herself and is inconsolable.

Okay. It's official. I need to learn how to draw in the manga style.
The turn of the Year
This is the time when the nobles receive the tenants and when people who have a petition make them. Those looking to match their daughters attend. In fact in some cases, girls spend the time prior just getting ready for this one night.

What happened next...
Seven Kingdoms
Bright Morning was joined later by Metacomet and their son Wamsutta. The visit did very well for the little family. Doron spoke to her about many things. She noticed that he still was interested in a certain lawyer that lived in Quesnel. Both Bright Morning and Metacomet encourage him to pursue this relationship as they have encouraged Sora to pursue hers. Discussions about the Cause are tabled in favour of family time for the moment.
Edenton
From her sickbed, Lettice begins to teach Acton and Alfred some of the old ways as she was taught. The more time that Acton spends with her family, the more he learns about her life in what they call "the before time." He still harbours doubts and fears about their relationship because of what he learns about Lettice and the late and lamented Bluebird. The fact that it was decided that she would seal the royal families through her union with Bluebird is not what disturbs him most. It is that she and Bluebird were deeply in love and that though many saw him fall, it still could not be confirmed that he was in fact gone. After all, the ones that found Lettice swore that she was gone. They did not know how she survived. Bluebird could have also, just like his nephew and Cousin. More to the fact. Lettice did not know that any of her family had survived and now there are three families with cousins and cousines and uncles and aunts. What if he comes back? Will he tear apart their little family? Even more so, the pull of Lettice's people is great. They want her to return and live there.
Alfred visits with Lucy Gray, who continues his education in other ways. The bread venture was halted by Lettice's illness since she assisted him with it as did her Cousine Jane. Lucy tells him about the mystics, who were her mother's people. She tells him about the ones that live in Tara and about what they do.
Greenwalls
Ricky's children go to Tara to see Bridget and the gang.

Well, what happened next?
Seven Kingdoms
Bright morning was received by her Cousin the Emperor who missed her spirits-rather any spirits since his sister Shasta left. Bright Morning also notices the growing attraction between the Emperor‘s sister Sora and Ted Detton. She finds him interesting but sad. He becomes more interested in her after learning that she is connected with the Denunciates he heard about.
Edenton
Not much more is taking place except that Lettice came over with a fever. She has memories of her life as it was and of Brush and Bluebird and her mother, Night Flying Woman, whose power was to harness power in the Dreamscape. Anne keeps them up on what happens in Kushkumasi. Lettice‘s aunt and uncle talk about removing back to where they lived. They do not like the “plain living“ of the Pickworths and the Fishers, or rather, the fact that they have to work harder than they had in the past being “refugees.” Alfred learns more things at Lettice‘s bedside.
Jecho and Madelle
Madelle and Jecho meet. He is bowled over by her. What he really likes about her is that she gets things down. She is a many idea-ed woman who sees the wisdom in his way. She has the political insight that he does not have and he sees the advantage of it. Never mind the fact that he is just simply in love with her.
